Gas Detection Safety Training is a SafetyMan Canada certified course recognized by most Oil & Gas companies as being equivalent to the Detection and Control of Flammable Substance course.
The course is designed to provide information about detection and control of flammable and toxic atmospheres to help you remain safe while working around potentially dangerous gases on work sites. In the course we will explore the features and operation of the most common detector tube devices (bellows and piston) and gas monitors (continuous gas, combustible gas, fixed continuous). You will learn about explosive ranges, toxic atmosphere, oxygen levels, flammable substances, principles of flammable gas, vapour detection, and much more!
Who should take this course?
Anyone entering a job site that requires any type of gas detection equipment. This equipment can be located at plant sites, drilling operations, servicing operations, pipeline, up stream and down stream oilfield operations, confined spaces, etc.
Gas Detection Online Course Duration
This course can take anywhere from 90 minutes to 4 hours to complete.
Gas Detection Assessment
Testing conducted in this online Gas Detection course is designed to reinforce the information presented. A mark of 80% must be achieved in order to receive a certificate of completion. Participants are able to repeat the course twice if the pass mark is not achieved.
Gas Detection Online Certificate of Completion
Upon successful completion of this course, you will be issued with a certificate. This certificate is for the sole use and benefits of the Bearer for the purpose of acknowledging that the Bearer has successfully completed the course described and is non-transferable. By signing the front of this certificate the Bearer further acknowledges, agrees and assumes full responsibility for the use of this certificate. By completing the course in it’s entirety and passing the final exam the Bearer fully agrees that he or she understands the information received in the course and any wrongful information given to others and or actions taken is the full responsibility of the Bearer of this certificate and the course owner is not liable in anyway.
Module 1: Introduction
This module introduces you to the topics that will be covered throughout the course, what you can expect, and why this course is important for you.
Module 2: Detector Tube Devices
The focus of this module is to introduce (or refamiliarize) you with the most common types of devices and their safe operation.
Module 3: Continuous Gas Monitors
This module thoroughly covers Continuous Gas Monitors, single toxic gas or multi-gas monitors (Personal). You will learning donning and operation. Through video and hands on interactive animations, you will learn 'how to' and participate in a bump test.
Module 4: Combustible Gas Monitors
A thorough overview highlighting combustible gas monitors and how they work. We will cover: thermal conductivity, semiconductor sensors, catalyctic method, display, difficulties, measurements.
Module 5: Fixed Continuous Monitors
An overview fixed continuous monitors.
Module 6: Gas Testing
You will be provided with an overview of gas testing and how to use this detection equipment.
Module 7: Conclusion
In preparation for the final quiz, we will review what you have learned.
Module 8: End of Course
The Final exam includes 20 questions from a question bank and allows for 2 attempts. If you have an unsuccessful attempt feel free to review the content before proceeding to the last attempt. Certification is only acquired with a passing mark of 80%.
