To get a better understanding of how gas detectors function, we will investigate the different types of combustible gas sensors for portable instruments, and identify the flammable range of common gases you may encounter. You will learn about various types of gas detection equipment (manufacturers - BW Technologies, Honeywell, Rae, Draeger, Gastec, MeshGuard, MSA). Meets requirements as outlined in IRP 18 and IRP 7 for wellsite supervisor for gas detection training.
During this course we will use a variety of interactive learning activities to reinforce the content. These learning activities are also used to help you understand how to perform important procedures such as a bump test, sampling techniques, calibration, etc.
At the conclusion of the course you will write a multiple-choice final exam. You must obtain a passing grade of 80% to receive your certificate for this course.
Course can take anywhere from 90 minutes to 4 hours to complete. The Final exam includes 20 questions from a question bank and allows for 2 attempts. If you have an unsuccessful attempt feel free to review the content before proceeding to the last attempt. Certification is only acquired with a passing mark of 80%.
Please note that you have 90 days to complete your course from the purchase date.

Anyone entering a job site that requires any type of gas detection equipment. This equipment is at plant sites, drilling operations, servicing operations, pipeline, up stream and down stream oilfield operations, confined spaces, etc.
This module introduces you to the topics that will be covered throughout the course, what you can expect, and why this course is important for you.
The focus of this module is to introduce (or refamiliarize) you with the most common types of devices and their safe operation.
This module thoroughly covers Continuous Gas Monitors, single toxic gas or multi-gas monitors (Personal). You will learning donning and operation. Through video and hands on interactive animations, you will learn 'how to' and participate in a bump test.
A thorough overview highlighting combustible gas monitors and how they work. We will cover: thermal conductivity, semiconductor sensors, catalyctic method, display, difficulties, measurements.
An overview fixed continuous monitors.
You will be provided with an overview of gas testing and how to use this detection equipment.
In preparation for the final quiz, we will review what you have learned.
The Final exam includes 20 questions from a question bank and allows for 2 attempts. If you have an unsuccessful attempt feel free to review the content before proceeding to the last attempt. Certification is only acquired with a passing mark of 80%
